The Police Union and some local citizens are mounting a
possible fall ballot measure that would compel San Carlos to:
- Maintain a municipal police department,
- Return staffing levels to what they were in 2002, and
- Pay our officers market rate.
This ballot measure would:
- Force San Carlos to hire about 10 more officers,
- Give our current officers a 10-20% pay raise,
- Cost the city over 3 million dollars, and
- Short circuit 3 million in proposed savings.
If this was to get on the ballot and pass, the city council would have to:
- Close Every park,
- Close the Youth Center,
- Close the Adult Community Center
